Vinny Vella is a journalist from Philadelphia.

He graduated from La Salle University in 2012 with a BA in Communication and a minor in marketing. Currently, Vinny is working as a staff writer covering Hartford for the Hartford Courant.

As a journalist, his work has been published in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, Times News (Lehighton, Pa.) and the Pocono Record. In summer 2012, Vinny worked as an Associate Editor on the news desk of The Denver Post, where he contributed to the paper’s coverage of the devastating wildfire season and the “Dark Knight Rises” theater shooting in Aurora, Co.

Vinny also has web production experience, having served as a multimedia content producer for the sports page of  philly.com, the website for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News.

While at La Salle, he served as the Editor in Chief of the Collegian, the student newspaper that won national  acclaim in the spring of 2011 for its stand against censorship. Under his leadership, the Collegian also won numerous awards from the Pennsylvania Student Press Association.

When he’s not hunting down leads or fact-checking, he enjoys the work of Hunter S. Thompson, Bruce Springsteen and Raymond Carver.
